Music has always been more than sound for me. It has been a language, a way of feeling, of connecting, and of telling stories that words alone could never contain. My journey into DJing began long before I even knew what a turntable was. Growing up in Milan, I was surrounded by a vibrant mix of cultures, sounds, and atmospheres. The city had its own rhythm, a pulse that was both historic and modern, intimate and expansive. That pulse stayed with me, and it shaped the way I listened, observed, and eventually created.
At the age of ten, I discovered Hip-Hop. I was fascinated not only by the beats but by the way the genre spoke to identity, culture, and resilience. It was my first encounter with music as a form of storytelling, and it planted a seed that would grow into my passion for DJing. By the time I was sixteen, I had found my way to turntables. That moment was a turning point. DJing was not just about playing tracks, it was about creating an atmosphere, shaping emotions, and building a connection between myself and the audience.
By eighteen, I was fully immersed in electronic music. I wanted to explore every texture, every layer, and every possibility it offered. DJing allowed me to experiment with how rhythm and harmony could transform a space. It became more than a skill. It became a practice, something that evolved with me. My sets began to blend decades and genres, carefully curated to strike a balance between precision and spontaneity. I wanted people to feel surprised, to discover tracks they had never heard before, and to open the door to genres outside their usual listening habits, all while enjoying the moment.
The English rave scene of the nineties became a huge inspiration. I was drawn to the raw energy, the communal spirit, and the fearless experimentation that defined that era. From there, my sound expanded to include Downtempo Electronica, Electro, House, and Glitch. Each of these genres brought new colors to my palette and deepened my approach to DJing. I never saw it as a matter of choosing one style over another.
For me, DJing has always been about expressing what I feel in that moment, shaped by the emotions leading up to the performance, and transmitting it through the sequence of tracks I mix. I aim to bring the audience into my world, into my vision, and share something personal that cannot be conveyed through words alone.
Over the years, I have taken part in events sponsored and organized by major brands such as TDK, Carlsberg, and Motorola Motormash. These experiences showed me how different contexts can offer unique opportunities for creativity. I also spent valuable time as a DJ at Radio Popolare Network, contributing to shows like The Box and Zen. Working in radio added another dimension to my DJing, as it required crafting a set for an unseen audience, focusing entirely on the emotional journey the music could create without relying on visual cues or direct feedback.
For me, DJing is as much about listening to the audience and the space as it is about building a story through music. It is a dialogue, where each track is a sentence, each transition a shift in tone, and the entire set a narrative that unfolds in real time.
My approach to DJing has never been about following trends or chasing the most popular tracks. I prefer to dig deeper, to find music that resonates on a more personal and emotional level. Sometimes that means revisiting forgotten tracks and giving them new life. Other times it means blending familiar sounds with unexpected elements to create something fresh. DJing, to me, is about building trust with the audience so they are willing to follow wherever the music takes them.
One of the things I value most in DJing is the balance between control and freedom. On one hand, there is the technical precision such as beatmatching, EQ adjustments, and transitions that keeps the mix seamless. On the other hand, there is the creative freedom to respond to the energy in the room and to make choices in the moment. This tension between structure and spontaneity is where the magic of DJing happens.
Collaboration is another important part of my DJing journey. Working with event organizers, musicians, and other creatives has taught me that the best results come when everyone involved shares a vision and is open to experimentation. DJing in collaborative contexts often pushes me to explore new genres or techniques, keeping my work dynamic and evolving.
Today, DJing is not just a part of my creative identity. It is one of its core pillars. It stands alongside my photography and videography, each influencing the other. The rhythm and flow I develop in DJing often inform how I edit video or compose a photographic series. Likewise, my visual sensibilities shape how I build the narrative arc of a DJ set. This cross-pollination keeps my creative process alive and interconnected.
Every time I step behind the decks, I see it as an opportunity to tell a new story. No two sets are the same. DJing is an exploration, a chance to create something that exists only in that specific moment and then disappears, living on only in memory. That is what makes it powerful. It is temporary yet impactful, precise yet free.

DJing will always be my way of blending heritage and harmony, of shaping time and space through sound. It is where I feel most connected, to the music, to the audience, and to myself.
